Larry Coleman and George Garrett went to a fire hall in Port Moody on Saturday, January 22nd to receive a cheque for $1500 from the Port Moody Fire Fighters Charitable Society.
This outstanding community group has supported the Volunteer Cancer Drivers Society from the beginning in 2016.
This dedicated group of Firefighters is the smallest union group in the Tri-Cities with only 44 members. The Tri-Cities continue to be one of the busiest areas for the Volunteer Cancer Drivers.
In 2021 our volunteer drivers in the Tri-Cities made 3292 trips with cancer patients. They drove 85,397 km while donating 6227 hours of volunteer time.
With support from the many Fire Houses across the lower mainland, our volunteers are able to ease the physical, emotional and financial burden for cancer patients and their families by ensuring cancer patients with limited means can attend treatments. If you are feeling inspired to help the VCDS continue to provide ACCESS TO CARE – a ride for all cancer patients, please donate on the “Ways to Donate” page
