R.Howard Webster Foundation

A British Columbia volunteer organization that provides free rides to cancer patients in the Lower Mainland has been awarded a significant grant from the R. Howard Webster Foundation, based in Montreal. A 5-year award was given to the Volunteer Cancer Drivers Society, formed in 2016 to fulfill a need created when the Canadian Cancer Society cancelled its free transportation program.

The Volunteer Cancer Drivers Society (VCDS) expanded rapidly over a four year period to meet the growing needs of cancer patients by providing over 20,000 rides in 2019 to cancer patients during their difficult journey.

VCDS President Bob Smith said the donation by the R. Howard Webster Foundation enabled VCDS to not only provide service to meet the current needs of cancer patients, as well as help in funding growth in the years ahead.
